Tulja Buddha caves Junnar
Emperor Ashok built 84000 stupas on the sacred relics of Buddha; The caves were carved. The first caves were carved at Barabar in Bihar. We know about the world famous Sanchi and Sarnath stupa. You can see the picture of Buddha Stupa of Sanchi on the new 200rs indian currency note.
Junnar is a city where great Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was born On the Shivneri fort, near the hill of Kadelota, there is a village called Thakarwadi, and at the end of that village you can see the beautiful carved tulaja caves.
The largest number of caves in India are in Junnar taluka. The feature of the Tulja caves is that these caves should be the first cave in Maharashtra. History scholars believe that these caves were sculptured during Emperor Ashoka's era.
The stupa in the caves is not found in other places. There are around 12 octagonal pillars around this stupa and the circular dome above the stupa. For the Buddhist monks, the Vihar, meditation cells, the meeting places are organized. In some places beautiful scenery is seen. In this, the worshipers are shown performing the worship of Stupa. The trinity of the Buddha, the Dhamma and the Sangh is composed in every cave in the of Junnar. Water from the mountain is stored in Pankodhi directly in front of the cave. The beauty of the caves looks more open in the middle of the cave. The old junnar taluka, Shivneri fort is seen in front of the chain.
There are many scholars coming to study this cave.
The time of creation of this cave is the beginning of the b.c 230 , then there was an incident of painting like Ajintha and the events of the Buddha's character were created.
